Soundtrack Six-Pack, Volume Eleven

Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, Joe Royland of Sit & Spin with Joe, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods are back with the latest volume in the Soundtrack Six-Pack series. Why would Dan Aykroyd with a bad wig, a fake mechanical hand, and a put-upon accent ever presume to dance in front of James Brown?? Why wouldn't Gabe Kaplan be the ideal choice for a basketball coaching job? Why wouldn't a NASCAR version of Top Gun work if Tom Cruise was cast?? How does Bobcat Goldthwait dressed as a rampaging Godzilla NOT win an Academy Award?!? Well, it was the 80s and not everything was as cool as a competitive arm-wrestling film starring Sylvester Stallone, let's be real.  We get into all of that and more.  Plus we have a great listener pick from our buddy Alex Alt from the Sly-Dog Music Cast!

In Volume Eleven, we're unpacking some classics from Honeymoon Suite, Peter Murphy, Pattie Brooks, David Coverdale, Billy Preston and Syreeta Wright, and Sammy Hagar.

Oct 17, 2019

Mutlu joins Eric in conversation to discuss the beginnings of his musical career, coming up in the Philly singer-songwriter and soul scene, how he connected with the likes of Daryl Hall and John Oates, T-Bone Wolk, Amos Lee, and The Hooters, life on the road, his arc of being signed to a major label, getting lost in one of those all-too-familiar major label shuffles, and most importantly some of the origins and meanings behind the songs on his new independently released EP, Good Trouble.

Mutlu is at heart a soul singer and songwriter, but his work ranges from super sexy songs complete with a wink and nod to 70s and 90s R&B, fun songs, songs with important social commentary, tips of the cap to styles like reggae and rap, songs about emotions we all feel like depression and loss, and even mixing in some traditional and pop influences from his Turkish heritage.

Six-Pack of Foreigner, Volume One

On this Six-Pack episode, Paul Underwood of Glory Days Radio, Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods are blasting some hits and some deep cuts from these undeniable jukebox heroes.  From their 70s hard-rocking days to the 80s heyday of monstrous, chart-topping ballads, Foreigner has blazed a unique trail.  Lou Gramm's voice coupled with Mick Jones' catchy riffs and guitar mastery were staples of rock radio - and still are to this day.  As usual, we've got some interesting detours and deep cuts that you may have never heard. Fun to discover, always. But we've also got a hit or two, lots of laughs, and some terrible singing.

So sit back, let us show you what love is as we get hot blooded AND remain cold as ice with Foreigner!
