Six-Pack of REO Speedwagon, Volume One

"Kevin Cronin is a sex machine" - Jon Lamoreaux

On this Six-Pack episode, Paul Underwood of Glory Days Radio, Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods take it on the run with a six pack of REO Speedwagon songs.  From their 70s hard-rocking days to the 80s heyday of monstrous, chart-topping ballads, REO Speedwagon has blazed a unique trail of rock and roll classics.  We heard it from a friend who heard it from a friend who heard it from another that we can't fight this feeling any longer when it comes to talking REO.

Disclaimer: There is a fair amount of ball-busting in this one. ;-)

So sit back, put on your bedroom eyes, and discover or rediscover some rock and roll gems from REO Speedwagon!

Six-Pack of Ric Ocasek, Volume Two

On this Six-Pack episode, Alex Alt of the Sly Dog Music-Cast, Ben Montgomery of the Records Revisited Podcast, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods celebrate the life and work of Ric Ocasek. Ric's career as a songwriter goes back to the late 60s, his relationship with Benjamin Orr started in 1967 and the two stuck together through the 70s in various configurations. But it wasn't until the two found themselves in Boston and connected with Elliot Easton, Greg Hawkes, and David Robinson that The Cars were truly born. They came out strong with what many consider to be the greatest debut album ever. A series of multi-platinum albums and a slew of hits followed until they kinda broke up in the mid-to-late 80s. Ric continued for the following decades as a beloved solo artist and highly successful and coveted producer. His unique style as a songwriter and singer coupled with his image as the coolest guy in any room have made him a true rock and roll icon and hero to many.

Ric passed away earlier this week while recovering from surgery and so we wanted to pay tribute.

So sit back, brush your rock and roll hair, and join us as we honor one of the greats, Mr Ric Ocasek.

Six-Pack of Eddie Money, Volume One

On this Six-Pack episode, Jon Lamoreaux of The Hustle Podcast, Joe Royland of Sit & Spin with Joe, and Eric Miller of Pods & Sods celebrate the life and work of Eddie Money. Eddie Money broke onto the scene in the late 70s, managed by the great Bill Graham. He scored a series of unforgettable hits that have become part of the American rock and roll soundtrack shared by us all - Shakin', Baby Hold On, Two Tickets to Paradise, Think I'm In Love, Take Me Home Tonight, Walk on Water, I Wanna Go Back, among others.  He had a reality show, toured the world, did tons of work for charities large and small, overcame personal demons... and all with a charm and smile that was unique, infectious, and undeniable.

Eddie was taken by cancer earlier this week and so we wanted to pay tribute.

So pack you bags, grab your tickets to paradise, and join us as we honor the Money-Man himself - Eddie Money.

Six-Pack of Daniel Johnston, Volume One

On this Six-Pack episode, Reid Messerschmidt from The Irrationally Exuberant Podcast and BJ Kramp of the Rock And/Or Roll podcast join Eric Miller of Pods & Sods to celebrate the life and work of Daniel Johnston. Daniel is considered by some to be one of the greatest songwriters of all time. His work is extremely lo-fi, literally recorded at home directly onto a tape recorder, but it is also incredibly unguarded and human. He struggled with mental illness and compulsively created music and art throughout his troubled life, topics he regularly covered brilliantly in his work. Some chance high-profile fans, a very welcoming music scene in Austin in the late 1980s, and an undeniable talent has led to Daniel's legacy as a songwriter, cult-like status, and very loyal fanbase. His life's story wonderfully captured in a 2006 documentary, The Devil and Daniel Johnston... if you haven't seen it, go check it out.

Daniel passed away this week at the age of 58, and so we wanted to pay tribute.

So sit back, kick your mom out of your basement, and join us as we honor the brilliantly unique Daniel Johnston.

In Volume Ten, we're unpacking some classics from Keira Knightly, Jonathan Rhys Myers, Michael J. Fox, Justine Bateman, Holly Robinson, and Mike Myers.

We're talking Cinderella! We're each bringing two of our favorite songs from Philadelphia's iconic hard rock band. From Night Songs to Still Climbing (ehh.. sort of), we hit a little something from each, share trivia, trade opinions, and we try to get the steam out (anybody know what that means??)

Six-Pack of Lindsey Buckingham, Volume One

On this Six-Pack episode, Ben Montgomery of the Records Revisited Podcast and BJ Kramp of the Rock And/Or Roll podcast join Eric Miller of Pods & Sods to celebrate the songs of Lindsey Buckingham. We're each bringing two songs from Lindsey's catalog - spanning from his Fleetwood Mac tenure, to his solo hits, to some of his deeper cuts. We cover quite a bit of terrain and share our personal thoughts on the songs - and on Lindsey's mastery as a guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He's an enigmatic dude, mixing bouncy pop with somber lyrics and sometimes quirky vocals. He definitely goes his own way musically, and for that we love him.

So sit back and discover or rediscover the brilliance of Lindsey Buckingham. But whatever you do, DO NOT LOOK DOWN!!

Six-Pack of Debbie Gibson, Volume One

On this Six-Pack episode, Debbie Gibson International Fanclub (DGIF) member #5707 Craig Smith and friend of the show Andy Schaal join Eric Miller of Pods & Sods to share a six pack of Debbie Gibson songs. We're drawing smiley faces on our knees, wearing our Electric Youth perfume, and unpacking our Kaboodles. Sure. But more than that, we're revisiting some of the greatest pop music of the 1980s. Debbie is often overlooked or marginalized as a songwriter, singer, arranger, and producer. So we highlight much of that side of her - more than the pop idol, we're celebrating the music. But of course, there are some fun anecdotes about meeting and seeing Debbie perform along the way, some teenage boy memories, and some laughs.

So sit back and discover or rediscover the pop mastery of Debbie Gibson.
